Philophobia is a the fear of falling in love. I suppose people who have this phobia have their own reason or story behind, it can be fear of getting hurt, or commitment issue, or trust issues, etc. I always find it interesting to look for resemblance between individual movies instead of looking at those belong to the same series.
What are they about:
- Men and women were extremely comfortable in one another's company and took what they want
- No commitment
- Started with no expectation and ended up with frustrations followed by happy endings
Movies, stories I heard and what I have been through proved positive that commitment does not come easy, and fear exists, especially those with trust issues. I might started to agree that having sex with a friend that you are super comfortable with is alright, or maybe 20% of me agree with that. Just a moment ago you felt like you are super confident that you are 100% ready and then few seconds later you just back off. Signs of fear are distancing yourself, avoid expressing how you feel and feeling intense insecurity. You know it and you can do nothing about it except finally one day you are brave enough to lay down your heavy, burdening armour. I am lucky enough not to suffer from any fatal illness but sometimes when allergies struck me in a really hard way I would be thankful that I was not in a relationship with anyone. The situation is almost equivalent to not wanting anyone to see you turn into a monster. Ah well...focus on the movies.

Sometimes I do have the feeling of not wanting to watch something heavy and dragging, makes me think too much, I would rather go for something light, sweet, or makes me smile during the movie because the story reminded me of my past, young love, love at first sight. The feelings that you do not know if it was just pure liking somebody or was it love.

These are all about love around similar stage. Different background, different culture, same love. Melody (UK, 1970s), My Girl (Thailand, 1970s), Flipped (US, 1950s-60s), Moonrise Kingdom (New England, 1960s)
The setting and the other characters completed the films. They made the story real, including peers of the same age, family issues, parents issues, neighbourhood issues, problems in school, etc. Do you remember how was it like to be young? To do something just because you want the person you like to smile?
Among the movies above, the natural stage where girls are way more mature than boys of the same age was only shown in Flipped, subtly. If you want elopement, go for Melody & Moonrise Kingdom. I have put together some images and trailers, oh well, they did fall under the same category..

I find the title rhymes with a popular book 'Tuesday with Morrie' and that was why I named it this way. It is always nice to spend a Sunday on the beach, chilling with friends over beer. My Sunday started with a movie very early in the morning, to be more precise it was midnight. Big Fish by Tim Burton and music by my favourite movie sound tracks composer Danny Elfman. This movie was filmed exactly ten years ago and watching it again was perhaps a celebration? This is a rather philosophical piece filled with moments that make you think. I do not know how to appreciate very deep movies so I do not find them very appealing to me because I am not sure if they are really that deep or just pretending to be one when it was not necessarily so.
There are various types of movies and each of them is unique in nature. Like any other form of art, it takes your mind away, gets into a world that might exist somewhere in the universe and brings you back at the end. However, not all of the movies can do that.
Things are different when you look at it at different times, with a different mood, or with a different person, etc. The context affect the impact of the piece of art instead of the art itself but I think if that piece of art can make you look at it again, and again, it would not be a bad one.
I was not majored in cinematography but I have always loved the making-of and behind-the-scenes of a production. The approaches and styles of different directors and production designers fascinate me. I cannot wait to share more on films, movies, cartoons - the world of moving pictures! And yes, the story always counts.
